ADRS | Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services
SAIL provides services for Alabamians with the most significant disabilities through specialized programs that promote independent living, enhance the quality of life and maintain maximum independence in the consumer’s home:
- Nursing management
- Guidance and counseling
- Patient and family education
- Attendant care
- Assistance with disability-related medical supplies/medications
- Prescribed medical equipment
- Limited home modifications
- Referral to other services
The eligibility criteria are slightly different for each program:
Homebound Services
- Be an Alabama resident
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Have a medical diagnosis of traumatic brain injury and/or quadriplegia
- Be dependent on others for assistance with 6/8 activities of daily living
- Demonstrate financial need
Home and Community-based Waiver Services
- Be 18 years of age or older with onset of disability prior to age 63
- Experience a physical disability resulting in nursing facility level of care
- Meet Medicaid financial eligibility
Community Support Services
- Be an Alabama resident
- Be severely disabled
- Have a disability that limits the individual’s ability to maintain independence
- Have evidence that the receipt of services will improve the individual’s ability to independently participate in their community
SAIL/VR Hybrid Services
- Meet eligibility criteria for Homebound or Waiver Services
- Have a reasonable expectation that service provision will result in an employment outcome
